About Alyssa C. Smith

I'm currently an NSERC Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Guelph in the Cognitive-Affective Neuroscience Lab, where I work with Dr. Mark Fenske. I completed my PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience at the University of Waterloo where I worked with Dr. Daniel Smilek. My doctoral research investigated the relation between oral contraceptive use and attention-related traits and states. My prior work also examined individual differences in cognition, attention during lectures, information search behaviours, media multitasking, and flow. I have more than 8 years of research experience and expertise in statistics, research methods, and translating complex research findings into actionable insights for different target audiences. I have honed my leadership, analytical, and communication skills by contributing to more than 18 research projects published in academic journals. I have subject matter expertise in psycho- and neuroendocrinology and cognition. I am a faster learner, conscientious, and skilled at managing competing priorities and working in fast-paced environments.
