About Alyssa Cherry

From Phoenix, Arizona, I graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Women's Studies in 2002. Following a spur-of-the-moment decision, I moved to Spain and spent two transformative years in Barcelona before returning to the States to pursue acting in Los Angeles. It was there that I met my husband, fell in love, and decided to start a family and move to Durham, a place entirely new to me. In 2008, life presented challenges as my mother battled stage 4 ovarian cancer, and my 4-month-old son faced a life-threatening tumor. This experience led me to reevaluate the toxins present in the products we used and consumed. Frustrated by the lack of sustainable options, particularly in home and personal care items, I founded Fillaree, a business centered on easy refill and reuse practices of natural products. Established in 2014, Fillaree stands as the first closed-loop soap company. Over the past decade, it has made a significant impact locally and nationally. Now, we aim to amplify and expand our impactful message of reduce, reuse, and refill with Fillaree.
