About Alyssa Curto

Alyssa trained in musical theatre and in her youth performed principle roles in numerous musical theatre productions. Selected stage credits include; Theatre Aquarius’ summer productions of “Grease” (Rizzo), “Evita” (young Evita), and “Miss Saigon” (Gigi) under the direction of Lou Zamprogna, Theatre Ancaster’s productions of “The Sound of Music” (Liesl), “Beauty and the Beast” (Belle) and “The Fiddler on the Roof” (Tzeitel). Alyssa was also a contestant on the CBC reality TV show “Triple Sensation” and obtained placement in the national top 40. In 2013, she made her professional Toronto theatrical debut as “Lore” in Lehar’s The Land of Smiles with the Toronto Operetta Theatre. As well, she returned from Edmonton, Alberta. Where she sang the title role of Massenet’s Cendrillon with Opera Nuova. Alyssa completed a Bachelor of Voice Performance Degree at the University of Toronto under the tutelage of Jean Macphail. She was also a student in the Opera Undergraduate Program at the University of Toronto. Under the direction of Michael Albano, she has performed ensemble in their Mainstage productions, most notably the mute role of “Housekeeper” in the divisional premiere of Donizetti’s Don Pasquale. She has now completed her masters degree from the University of Ottawa under the tutelage of Christiane Riel. While there, she performed the role of Pamina in Mozart's The Magic Flute and most recently the title role of Bizet's Carmen. She also had the privilege of premiering the role of Iphigenia in LA Opera's production of their original work, The Intuition of Iphigenia. Upon her return to Toronto, she performed as Belle in Lower Ossington Theatre's production of Beauty and the Beast. Shortly after she starred as Esmeralda in the Toronto Premiere of Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame with Wavestage Theatre. She continues to supplement her performing contracts by teaching with Innovative Arts as a cast director and vocal specialist.
