About Alyssa Darling

I am a Communications Studies major at BYU. My passions lie in social media, public relations and digital marketing. Some industries that I'm most passionate about are pop culture, gaming and technology. This summer, I interned for a public relations and marketing firm in Utah by the name of PilmerPR. At this company, I was able to help a client increase their Facebook Reach by 13.8k% in 3 months and get page visits. I also managed Coveragebook, media pitching, press releases, and social media for over 4 clients to increase outreach. Two of my most notable projects are from 2021 on Twitch and 2022 on Discord. In 2021, I hit the top 0.96% of Twitch channels in 3 months by influencing TikTok users to watch 2 hour live streams. A year later, I used content creation skills to convert social media users to a Discord server in less than 2 months to build a healthy, active gaming community. Currently, I work at Brigham Young University’s BioComms Lab. This lab is student-run and uses biometric technologies for both academic and professional research studies. In the lab, I'm able to use 4 different technologies (facial tracking, eye tracking, GSR and VR) to research media effects. My hands-on experiences here contribute to my understanding of consumers, media and enhance my work as a professional.
