About Alyssa Hallgren

From the time I was born I was immersed in an environment of serving others due to my father being a firefighter. At a very young age I decided I wanted to follow in those foot steps of making a difference in the most apprehensive time of individuals lives by becoming an ER nurse. After graduating nursing school, I am excited to say I accomplished my dreams and have accepted a position as an emergency department registered nurse! As I finished high school, I began submerging myself more into the healthcare field in a variety of ways. Initially I began volunteering at Riverside Community Hospital until I received certifications. After getting patient experience at RCH, I had the opportunity to do ride alongs with the Riverside City Fire Department on a variety of medical emergencies in a field setting. This allowed me to gain insight on emergencies in a field setting versus hospital setting. In 2019, I received my nursing assistant license and began working in assisted living as a caregiver and shortly after was promoted to a lead caregiver. In 2019, I also had the chance to gain cross-cultural healthcare experience in South Africa by serving on a healthcare team from California Baptist University. Prior to beginning my last semester of nursing school, I accepted a position as an Emergency Department Technician at Riverside University Health System to gain experience in a hospital setting. After graduating with my BSN in December 2022, I have began my journey as a new graduate registered nurse in the emergency department setting. I am happy to serve at a hospital where their mission and vision is evident through their patient care as I have always remained compassionate about providing empathetic care through a teamwork approach.
