About Alyssa Johnson

If you ask anyone to describe me you will always hear that I am passionate about what I do. I care deeply for all things environmental from botany to wildlife sciences. I am ambitious, a hard worker, and strive to do the right thing for as many parties as possible. I am a PSU graduate with a B.S. in Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences. I have worked on some genetic research focusing on the gene VPS13A and how it affects migratory patterns in golden-winged and blue-winged warblers. Along with birds, I have interest in aquariums and fish with 3 years experience volunteering at the HUB aquariums at PSU main campus and over 10 years experience from being personally involved in the aquarium hobby. I have also worked with PADCNR which has helped me build upon organizational and operational skills. I have field experience collecting and analyzing wildlife samples from my own research, and from labs and classes at PSU. I have had the wonderful opportunity to build upon my leadership skills as a department leader and interim GM at Petco. I have had the pleasure to further build upon my teaching experience, flexibility and team-building skills, time management, communication, and organizational skills as an environmental educator at the Cape Fear Botanical Garden. Currently, I hold one of the landscape designer/consultant positions with Green Biz Nursery and Landscaping where I am constantly improving upon my design skills, communication, and plant knowledge base.
