Background
About Alyssa Latorre
When I think about what drives me to do what I do, what captures how I think, and what motivates me to be the best me I can be there are three thoughts that instantly come to mind: • Everyone has a story • The glass is half full • The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree EVERYONE HAS A STORY: I absolutely love my job as a philanthropy advisor. At the heart of all I do is storytelling. I have the privilege of sharing stories about the incredible work of the caregivers at OhioHealth. But here’s the best part, I get to hear the stories of the people we serve. As they share their personal experiences with me, whether joyful or painful, we connect in a way that is often emotional and always authentic. THE GLASS IS HALF FULL: We all find ourselves in situations where we have a choice. A choice to see moments and circumstances through the lens of a glass half full or half empty. My default is always the glass is half full. I will admit sometimes it takes deliberate effort and deep thinking to gain that perspective, but I have found that lens is what fuels me. I can look back to my first job out of college which was in broadcasting – the career path I thought was perfect for me but soon found out was not my cup of tea. I learned a lot about myself and it set me on a path to find my true passion and I love where I have landed. Whether it’s expectations or disappointments that don’t measure up to the picture in my head I believe there is always a lesson to be learned and a new path to follow if your eyes are open, you trust your intuition, and you listen to your gut. THE APPLE DOESN’T FALL FAR FROM THE TREE: My mom was one of the most important people in my life. My two older brothers and myself were the light of her life and she encouraged us to be who we are. She taught us about what really matters – how you treat people and the relationships you nourish and cherish. There’s a quote from Winnie the Pooh that sums up the gift she gave me in her final days. You are probably familiar with it. It’s this:"You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, smarter than you think, and loved more than you know." I am proud to say I am me because of my mom.
