About Alyssa McKellar

I was never good at summing myself up, and I'm still not to this day. How does one encompass their life to a few short words on a website? Summarised everything they've done and where they've been and what they like to eat for dinner and how they've changed? I'll try. I'm a writer, and in 2021 I graduated a professional writing and journalism degree. I'm a creative person who likes working with other creative people. I love that feeling you get, that rush of motivation and inspiration and brilliance when you're working on something you know is amazing. I like being around people who are passionate. My background is varied in terms of career: I like to be able to jump in to a role and challenge or scare myself. I have worked in media, commercial, EA and reception roles in both Adelaide and in the UK, as well as roles in retail, sales and in data entry.(Of course, there's also the time I worked in a completely different field all together, like when I hung out with 14-year-olds in Maine, USA, ate icecream every day and taught them to swim for an entire summer - and loved it). Currently, I'm at the Ehrenberg-Bass Institute in Adelaide, South Australia (my hometown), which is the largest University institution for research into marketing in the world, as Commercial Officer, and executive assistant to the Commercial Director. I have recently returned from studying creative writing at Oxford University, which was probably one of the most amazing things I'll ever do. Everything I've done has given me a heck of life experience and made me a little street smart, I think. So to summarise, I am a journalist, writer, EA, Commercial Officer, creative, person. And I like pasta. Pasta is always good for dinner.
