About Alyssa Parker

I recently graduated from American University with a Master's degree in Global Environmental Policy, concentrating on Food, Agriculture, and Global Health. My career path has been diverse but consistently focused on service and food/agriculture. Initially, I envisioned a career centered on agricultural sustainability and food access. However, while working as a Data Analyst at APAH, I discovered my passion for addressing a broader range of issues to create meaningful change.My career began in the U.S. Army as a Veterinary Food Inspector, where I learned the importance of food safety, teamwork, mentoring, and training. After leaving the military, I volunteered with AmeriCorps at Gleaners Food Bank, witnessing firsthand the challenges of food insecurity. This experience deepened my understanding of program management, communication, and using Qualtrics.I continued my service with AmeriCorps at Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing,(while also attending grad school), where I discovered the power of data and research. I gained expertise in cleaning, managing, and presenting data, primarily using Excel, to drive strategic insights and improve program effectiveness.I am passionate about leveraging my skills in data analysis, program management, communication, and research to create sustainable and impactful solutions for communities.
