Background

About Alyssa Yates

I am a current speech pathology graduate student who is seeking a CF position and lives for servicing the pediatric population and their families. I have experience working in a private clinic during my 12 week externship where I worked with clients ranging from two years of age to 15 years old. I learned and implemented orofacial myofunctional therapy in order to eliminate tongue thrust and facilitate accurate production of sounds for phonology and articulation therapy. During my 14 week public school externship, I enjoyed servicing one and a half PFA and one self contained classrooms at a preschool for 3, 4, and 5-year-olds. I used a multitude of visual aides in order to accommodate all of my students' needs, including a visual schedule, visual timer, visual sentence strips with the appropriate fringe vocab for each activity and a core board. I also earned experience delivering therapy for children using PECS and a high tech device using the LAMP Words for Life Language System.
