So. tell me about yourself?" Amanda Faries is a graduating Senior of Cal State Northridge's Mike Curb College of Arts, Media, and Communication. She is graduating in May 2022 with a degree in Cinema and Television Arts with a concentration in Screenwriting. A non-traditional student, Amanda chose to pursue a career in the entertainment industry after many years cultivating a career in luxury retail and moved to Los Angeles in 2019. During her time in Los Angeles she received two awards from the LA Pierce College Media Arts Department, one for Best Documentary for her documentary centering around a visually-impaired Asian-American opera singer, and one for her short script "La Fille." She received two degrees from Pierce before transferring to Northridge. An avid writer and artist, Amanda's portfolio ranges from experimental theatre scripts in the vein of Fleabag and How I Learned to Drive, narrative dramas surrounding crime, corruption and the Millennial experience, and dark tragicomedy scripts. Professionally speaking, Amanda is currently interning for Peter Dinklage's production company Estuary Films and has completed stints at bipoc-led Nlite Media, as well as established company Southpaw Entertainment which produced August Rush. In her spare time she cycles through her comfort shows about murder and mayhem, develops projects, creates pitch decks, and plays with her dogs Ivory and Shadow. She hopes to parlay her experience into a position as a writer's assistant and eventually work her way up to the Writer's Room. She also hopes this will lead to an actual paycheck someday, but that remains to be seen.
