About Amanda Barrack

After moving to Chicago, I started working as a host at then South Water Kitchen, now Fisk & Co, a Kimpton Hotels & Restaurant. I moved into the Restaurant Supervisor position one year after becoming a host, and a year later moved into the Restaurant Manager position. Over the course of my 3 years at Fisk & Co, I have built and maintained strong employee, coworker, and guest relationships through personal and empathetic interactions, enhanced by Kimpton’s ideal of “ridiculously personal experiences.” I worked within a management team to lead our team through daily restaurant operations, ensuring team cohesiveness as well a great guest experiences. In addition, I took on many administrative responsibilities such as: updating the content of our restaurant menus, our POS system, and our website, as well as scheduling for the FOH staff, payroll, invoicing, and further work place organization. Simultaneously to transitioning to Restaurant Manager, I also took part in Kimpton’s Manager-in-Training program, where I learned in depth about each facet of the hospitality industry. I attended monthly lunch-and-learns with the heads of various departments at the Chicago properties, and also networked with peers who worked across different jobs at those same properties.Previously, I graduated cum laude from the University of Central Florida, where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising/Public Relations and a minor in Sociology. I was a member of the Burnett Honors College. I also completed a 4-month study abroad program at Salzburg College in Salzburg, Austria.I have completed internships with the International Center for New Media (Salzburg, Austria) and with Mediagistic (Tampa, Florida). As an intern I managed social media channels, created and edited content for websites, and proofed and placed advertisements online and offline. Along with fueling my adventurous side, my time studying and independently traveling abroad taught my how to adapt to a fast-paced environment and to solve challenges efficiently, even if they needed some out-of-the-box thinking. I am creative, resourceful, and optimistic. I throw myself into succeeding at any work I am doing, and I am encouraged by a relentless curiosity and the urge to continue to learn and grow.
