About Amanda Bolton

Currently a software quality engineer (Software Development Engineer in Test) with a focus on quality, automated testing, and accessibility. Also was a well-rated university psychology instructor and researcher with over a decade of experience. Though I'm not teaching right now, I still have a passion for science, education, and using these skills to help communities. I hope to combine these two fields of expertise to further help the public in our modern technology environment. I have extensive knowledge in conducting quality psychological research, including teaching these skills to others. Expertise includes computer programming and testing, survey design, research design, data analysis, and sharing results for all audiences. Dedicated to continually improving skills and knowledge, including learning new statistical techniques and the latest in technology and best practices for software automation, quality and accessibility. Additional expertise in translating complicated statistics and science into plain but accurate language. Always building my skills in computer programming and software design through CS courses at UNB and independent learning. I've also completed courses or workshops on advanced use of Excel, machine learning, big data software, GIS analysis, Java and some Python- I have been involved in Psychology research since 1998 and have been the lead researcher in the creation, implementation, and analysis of numerous projects since 2002. I greatly enjoy psychology, teaching, and research and I apply these skills inside and outside of academia. I'm particularly interested in media and its uses and effects, especially video games. I'm also interested in teaching and learning in modern environments, especially how technology helps (and hurts) learning. My goal is to use my wide variety of interests and expertise inside and outside of my work to continue to improve our communities towards better education, peaceful and environmentally sustainable goals, as well as increasing public knowledge of what science is and how it helps society. I'm currently building skills to take on a greater analytics role in the modern (big) data environment as well as to design helpful software to address accessibility related challenges.
