Background
About Amanda Bull
I am a PhD candidate at QUT researching whether the Pt 5.3B small business restructuring regime provides a cheaper, faster and less complex alternative than voluntary administration for SMEs. I am a pragmatic researcher, focusing on how the law can help practice. I enjoy learning from those with “lived experiences” in this industry to fill the gaps in the available data. I am also an Associate Lecturer unit coordinating and tutoring students in LLB301 Real Property Law, LLH480 Consumer Law in a Digital Age, LLB340 Banking & Finance Law and LLB240 Commercial & Personal Property Law. As a sessional I also worked closely with senior academics by providing academic support to Unit Coordinators, in a range of commercial and high level research units including Commercial and Personal Property Law, Real Property Law, Real Estate Transactions, Corporate Law, Commercial Remedies, Commercial Contracts in Practice, Legal Research Capstone, Banking & Finance Law and Consumer Law in a Digital Age. I have a particular interest in the Personal Property Securities Act 2009 (Ch) having completed my LLM on that topic in 2012 and restructuring law more generally having practised in that area (from both a transactional and insolvency perspective) for a number of years. My PhD research focus has now moved to SME restructuring. My role includes:* assisting students to apply the law to practical legal problems in a class environment;* leading collaborative tutorial sessions both online and face to face * coordinating all aspects of LLB301 - real property law and LLH305 including lecturing, drafting assessment items, coordinating a marking team, moderation of grades etc * marking student's examinations, oral presentations and written assessments; and * assisting to draft materials for use in units (including study guides, tutors' answer guides, exam Q & As, assignment Q & As, electronic materials etc)
