About Amanda Guillen

Amanda Guillen is a communication specialist with over a decade of experience in the field. She is currently a marketing coordinator with El Paso Children’s Hospital. In her role she tells the stories of the hospital through the eyes of the patients, physicians, parents, faculty and staff at the hospital. She also works to ensure the hospital remains a visible presence in the Borderland community. Amanda has an extensive background in multimedia journalism. As a journalist for over 7 years she specialized in broadcast journalism. Most recently she was the morning news anchor and noon producer as well as a fill-in forecaster for both KDBC and KFOX-TV in El Paso, Texas. While working for the CBS and FOX affiliates in El Paso, Amanda had the opportunity to report on several important issues that directly impact the community that she has called home her entire life. Prior to working at KDBC and KFOX-TV she worked as a multimedia journalist and weather anchor for the NBC affiliate, KTSM in El Paso, Texas. Amanda got her start in broadcast journalism as a primetime news producer at KTSM. As a producer she helped put together one full hour of news for the Borderland binational community. Amanda is a life long El Pasoan and a proud graduate of the University of Texas at El Paso where she graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Multimedia Journalism and a minor in Women and Gender Studies. While at UTEP she was the editor of the student newspaper ‘The Prospector’ and also started the first broadcast YouTube series for the publication, The Prospector News Weekly. This led to several awards and internships in Las Vegas, Nevada and Washington, D.C. She has covered countless stories of impact from Capitol Hill, The White House, the Supreme Court to right back here at home on the border. Amanda’s most important roles are as a wife to her college sweetheart and as a mother to her son.
