About Amanda Hanson

I have a versatile and diverse background. I was the Executive Director of the United Way of the Tanana Valley in Fairbanks, Alaska. As Executive Director I was in charge of raising funds for 17 other nonprofit agencies who provide critical services for the Fairbanks community. Prior to the United Way, I served as News Director for two television stations. I gained extensive experience finding, developing, and finalizing stories for television, web, and social media platform distribution. I produced content and edited scripts for broadcast and publication. The newsroom environment included routine strict deadlines for five daily broadcasts. I was the direct supervisor for 14 employees, including news anchors, reporters, and a production team. I was in frequent correspondence with Public Information Officers, legislative representatives, and Public Relations personnel, and am very familiar with receiving and writing press releases. As News Director, I was proud to have developed a culture of excellence in the newsroom, instilling an attitude of self-confidence when it came to generating story ideas and maintaining strict quality control for writing, video editing, and remaining politically neutral.
