About Amanda Hayes

I'm currently living north of London and working as an archaeologist, focused in finds conservation and management, environmental sample processing, and archiving. This has been a goal of mine for many years, and one I'm very proud to be pursuing now. In my previous career, I worked as a social media consultant, helping brands connect with their customers. I'm also a former magazine editor, with experience writing and editing for national-circulation magazines in the U.S, including Time, Parents and Fitness, as well as a qualified chef. I've been lucky enough to have bounced around the world quite a lot, and I've had (by my count) at least four different careers now. This has given me an uncommonly broad skill-set, which encompasses research, writing (in both a journalistic and PR setting), knowledge transfer/science communication, topical knowledge in the fields of nutrition and health, parenting, medicine, fitness, cooking and nutrition, history/anthropology, and most recently, archaeology. Specialties: Writing and editing high-quality, engaging content, with special emphasis on science and our health. Excavating, cleaning/conserving, and organising archaeological finds from a wide variety of sites. Learning new things quickly and with enthusiasm!
