About Amanda Hews

The summer following college graduation, I endured 16 states, 11 national parks, and 8 major cities, in a total of 17 days. And no, I was not completing a geographic research project. My college roommate and I quite literally made our way in a cheaply renovated Dodge van with no A/C, manual windows, and almost miles on the vehicle, across the Western United States in roughly two weeks. We drove over miles, was in a new state almost every day of the trip, and experienced a heat wave like no other that our 23 year old van had trouble managing. Oh, and do not ask about the elevation while driving in the mountains - it was scary enough to ditch the van and purchase a flight back home. Nevertheless, we kept going. Eager to experience new cultures and landscapes, motivated to complete the goal of visiting multiple national parks out west, and most importantly, finding purpose in creating concrete goals that are put into action. Through the many obstacles faced while on the road, the accomplishment of returning home and completing the trip while learning from the hardships is what I implement in my current position as an Event Coordinator. Although the obstacles may have different scenery, the core of problem solving and perseverance remains the same through all aspects of life. I am skilled in building relationships, event planning and execution, consistency in operations, scheduling management, and financial reporting.
