About Amanda Knapp

As a dedicated educator and advocate, I bring over a decade of experience in higher education, civic leadership, and international engagement. Currently serving as the Coordinator of Administrative Services at the FIU Institute for Civic Leadership, I am also an Adjunct Professor, teaching courses in Civics, Policy Analysis, and freshman experiences. My academic journey includes a Master’s in International & Intercultural Education and a soon-to-be-completed Ph.D. in Public Affairs from Florida International University, focusing on social justice, human trafficking, and public policy. My professional experience is diverse and impactful. I have managed administrative operations, developed and sustained crucial relationships with community stakeholders and elected officials, designed and implemented academic programs, and supervised student interns and graduate assistants. Additionally, my roles have included academic advising, international student advising, and assistant academic directorships at various institutions, where I have supported students' academic and personal growth. Beyond the classroom, I am a passionate advocate for social justice, human rights, and community engagement. As the Chair of the Miami Beach Human Rights Committee, I have led initiatives to raise awareness about human trafficking, partnering with the Blue Campaign and installing national hotline signs citywide. My dedication to community service is reflected in my extensive volunteer work across several countries, where I have contributed to cross-cultural solutions and supported local communities. I have also been actively involved in research and academia, contributing to project on human trafficking and presenting at numerous conferences. My work has been recognized through various grants and scholarships, underscoring my commitment to advancing knowledge and fostering positive change. In every role, I strive to empower others, advocate for vulnerable populations, and contribute to meaningful societal change. I am eager to connect with like-minded professionals and explore opportunities to further impact through collaboration and innovation.
