Amanda Koons-Stapf (formerly Amanda Gillespie) currently works for SAIC as a Chief Digital Engineer. Prior to rejoining SAIC, she worked for L3Harris as a Scientist, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE). At SAIC, Amanda worked as a Solutions Director within the Digital Engineering (DE) business unit. She received her Bachelors of Science in Applied Mathematics from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Ms. Koons-Stapf received her American Society of Quality (ASQ) Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) certificate in January 2011. She has 20+ years of combined experience in digital engineering, MBSE, reliability engineering, maintainability engineering, logistics engineering, Integrated Product Support (IPS), and statistical analysis. Ms. Koons-Stapf works to develop sound, repeatable methodologies and solutions of Digital Engineering, Digital Sustainment in the Logistics, Readiness and Sustainment, and Reliability Engineering fields for with multiple Department of Defense (DoD), federal, and civilian customers. For the last two years, Amanda has also focused on developing solutions to bring Digital Twin technologies to these same customers to reduce the cost of sustainment and improve readiness. Prior to her Solution Development role, Ms. Koons-Stapf spent six years as a reliability engineer for NASA at Kennedy space Center (KSC) performed reliability, availability, and maintainability, and (RAM) analysis for various NASA programs projects, winning several wards and certificates, including the Space Coast Women Engineer Award for Technical Achievement in 2012 for her work in the field of RAM Engineering. At KSC, Amanda has performed reliability engineering on various NASA projects, including, Space Launch System (SLS), Multipurpose Crew Vehicle (MPCV), Ground Systems Development and Operations (GSDO), RESOLVE, and ISS Plant Habitat. She developed a detailed and thorough process for evaluating the availability of systems. This process won the Best Paper Award at the International Reliability and Maintainability Symposium (RAMS) in 2012. Amanda was also selected as the Society of Women Engineer’s (SWE) Technical Achievement of the Year in 2012. Prior to joining SAIC, Amanda was involved in the optimization of the Eastern Range (ER) Range Safety Display’s (RSD) Kalman filter performance by utilizing Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques to model ER instrumentation calibration random errors.
