Background
About Amanda Levendowski
Professor Amanda Levendowski is an award-winning scholar, teacher, and artist whose work explores how to shape better technologies. Her decade of scholarship and forthcoming books, Feminist Cyberlaw and Full SLATE, equip lawyers to do so in practice. She uses both methods to train the next generation of technology lawyers as the Founding Director of Georgetown's Intellectual Property and Information Policy (iPIP) Clinic, where she supervises student attorneys performing creative legal and sociotechnical work for justice-minded artists, nonprofits, and coalitions. Her scholarship has informed multiple Clinic projects, particularly at the intersection of IP and privacy, involving biased AI systems, face surveillance, nonconsensual intimate imagery, and secret surveillance technology. Her practice and pedagogy have been featured by 60 Minutes, the New York Times, the Washington Post, Bloomberg, 99% Invisible, and the U.S. Copyright Office. In 2021, Public Knowledge recognized her as a 20/20 Visionary, one of twenty future leaders in technology.
