About Amanda Lewis

When I came to the University of Massachusetts, I was undeclared. I would meet with advisers who would say "what are you good at"​ or "what's your passion"​. The problem wasn't that I didn't have a passion, but rather that I had too many. I enjoy thinking abstractly, creating something out of nothing. I often envision projects in my mind and then set out to bring that vision to life. I also get a rush out of solving equations, thinking analytically and manipulating numbers. But then, I also like to work with people. I find a great sense of purpose when I am able to mentor someone through a stressful or exciting time. I wanted to find a major that wouldn't force me to sacrifice any of my competencies.I was led to the Isenberg School of Management, and eventually declared management as my major. I felt that management would allow me to think abstractly, analytically, and compassionately. Thus far, my education, experience, and other involvements have only strengthened my assurance that I made the right choice.
