My program of translational research utilizes an infant mental health framework to understand and address the intergenerational transmission of addiction, adversity, and attachment. Specifically, my research: 1) Studies how addiction, adversity, and attachment impact the maternal brain2) Examines the efficacy and implementation of Mothering from the Inside Out, a mentalization-based parenting intervention for mothers with histories of addiction and adversity3) Investigates stigma surrounding pregnant women with addictions in order to shift public discourse and improve policy
