About Amanda Malerba

Hi there! I’m Amanda, a recent grad of James Madison University looking to continue my journey of media production. When I started high school in 2016, I was in a specialty center called Mass Communications where I first started to learn about marketing, digital communication, journalism, and media production. It was there that I fell in love with video post-production, and since then, it’s been my main focus. I recently completed a Bachelor of Science in Media Arts & Design at James Madison University, with a concentration in Digital Video & Cinema and a minor in Film Studies, and now I’m working with VITAC as an offline captioner. My education and work have provided me with experience in every phase of production, from brainstorming, writing, set-up, production, and mixing, all the way to distribution. From August 2022 to May 2024, I worked as a student content producer on JMU's Advancement Marketing team, filming and editing promotional and event videos, doing photography for events, and expanding my skills/interests alongside an awesome creative team. At Vitac, I've created closed captioning files for various types of media, enhancing accessibility for audiences and developing a great attention to detail. Over the years, I have familiarized myself with programs like Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, Lightroom, Photoshop, and Illustrator, and Ooona, and can't wait to learn more!
