About Amanda Marinoff
I am currently researching contemporary abstraction and obtaining a B.F.A. in drawing and painting at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, MI. My plans after graduation is to go to graduate school to obtain an MFA in drawing and painting. I am a McNair Scholar at NMU. While in the McNair program I have been making connections with other artists and gaining more experience in networking. I enjoy taking objects and making an abstract painting out of the underlying shapes within that object. My paintings are described as energetic, fun, and awkward. I do a lot of geometric paintings that have an organic background or element in them. My fascination in shapes comes from my interest with taking apart an environment or object into categories of shapes whether that's geometric or organic, all kinds of shapes because shapes are everywhere in the environments we interact with.
