About Amanda Markey
After graduating from the University of Chicago with a B.A. in Economics & Psychology, I completed two years of teaching through Teach for America. I taught Algebra 1, 2 and Pre-Calculus on the Navajo Reservation. I then returned to academia to pursue my PhD in Behavioral Economics, but I found that I missed K-12 teaching, so I returned to the classroom upon completing my PhD. I join Williamsburg Collegiate Charter School, a nonprofit charter organization that serves low-income students. At WCCS, I was an instructional coach for two other teachers, and I was accepted into Math for America as a Master Teaching Fellow in Fall 2018. In 2021, I moved to Minnesota with my husband and am teaching at Capitol Hill Middle School in Saint Paul. I plan to stay in the classroom, either at the middle or high school level.
