About Amanda Mason

Over the years I’ve been a teacher, full time mother of five, a volunteer leader in the nonprofit world, an advocate for children living in foster care and institutions, a mentor to parents considering or completing an international adoption, and currently a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor in the state of Maryland and a Nationally Board-Certified Counselor. I received my MEd in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the College of William and Mary and recently opened a private practice. I work with adults and older teens, both individuals and couples. I am EMDR-trained and have additional training in Emotionally-focused therapy, Perinatal Mental Health, and adoption competency. Here are the areas that I feel particularly passionate about-Adoptive parents, individuals that joined their families through adoption and all of those touched by adoption -Perinatal Mental Health and parenting, especially supporting those parents that want to improve their relationships with their children or just feel more comfortable in their role -Individuals that have experienced trauma, including childhood and racial trauma-Couples that are looking to strengthen the connection within their relationship -Individuals that feel stuck or frustrated in their current situation
