About Amanda Mattocks

My personal goal in life is to help everyone within my influence live their best lives as defined by them. It’s this self-starter, people-first approach that won me the prestigious Key Contributor Award at Charles Schwab – An exclusive annual award, awarded by the Director and VP level team for creating significant company impact – for initiating, advocating, and executing an employee scheduling tool based on demand forecasts that significantly maximized employee engagement and improved client experience. It was a project I dreamed up and brought to life… even while having to heavily advocate the whole way. Here’s the backstory: I loved networking with my peers and other departments. I have an unquenchable thirst for learning and listening to other people’s experiences; no detail is too small! Through these interactions, I realized that many departments were limited on scheduling flexibility. • I made it my mission to increase the work-life balance for my fellow colleagues by taking it upon myself to create a flexible scheduling program • Since this was not a priority or in the budget, I had to heavily advocate across departments to gain their support without the support of leadership • Through hard work, persistence, and the relationships I built, I eventually got a software overlay built and was approved to run the “Flex on Demand” beta • Users were so delighted that when word got out, we had to create a waitlist for other departments to be added into a program that wasn’t even approved yet! • Eventually, all the chips fell into place and I’m proud to say that collectively over employees were given the ability to easily and autonomously adjust their schedules as needed without any detriment to Schwab’s clients Later in my career at Schwab, I was chosen as the Workforce Management Lead to onboard USAA’s various investment departments. Learning the differences between each department allowed me to choose which of my department’s tools, services, and reporting they would need, and to personalize their training plan to best support their transition to have them prepared to hit the ground running on the go-live date. Creative solutions and communication were paramount during this process as federal regulation limited what information, systems, and processes we could share prior to the go-live date.
