About Amanda Mayther

Amanda Mayther is a Certified Childbirth Educator(CBE), Postpartum Doula, and Advanced Professional Herbalist (APH) living in Portland, Oregon. The experience of pregnancy, giving birth to her son, and navigating the challenges of being a new parent, inspired Amanda to follow a life path to empower others to navigate their birthing and parenting experiences in their own unique way with confidence. In 2011 she earned her certification in Biodynamic Childbirth from Birthingway College of Midwifery. Her training in this holistic birth philosophy included extensive focus on the hormones, anatomy and physiology of the birth process, and the extensive array of knowledge, comfort techniques, interventions, and choice that clients have available to them. She received her certificate in Advanced Professional Herbalism from Portland Community College. When she isn't teaching childbirth ed, Amanda provides clinical herbal consulting services to midwifery practices in Portland, Oregon, maintains a small private herbal practice, and is the President of the Oregon chapter of the American Herbalists Guild. She lives on a small farm with her husband, son, soon to arrive new baby, and many dogs, cats, and small farm animals. As co-creator of the Strong Sexy Birth method, Amanda believes that childbirth education should be informative and fun, and guide you to choose the kind of birth that is best for you and your baby. She loves sharing knowledge with her clients to help them view birth as a wonderful transformative and life-changing experience, that though challenging, can also be ecstatic and joyous.
