About Amanda McMillan

I've spent the last decade building my career in advertising, working at a some of Canada's most notable agencies on a variety of clients and categories. From retail to beer, CPG to automotive, I've explored a myriad of industries and helped bring brands to life, both big and small. Throughout my career, I have appreciated the relationships I've built within the agencies as well as with my clients. I value connection, mutual respect, and teamwork no matter what environment I am put into, and harness those values as part of my leadership style. I find fulfillment in both teaching and learning, particularly as those moments present themselves through success and failure. As a naturally creative person, I am inspired by all that creativity has to offer. I am a writer, musician, and amateur photographer, and I enjoy connecting with other people about their own creative endeavours. Weaving that energy into my work and my day-to-day life is a must for me and is something I excitedly bring to the table. I carry an energetic, open-minded, inquisitive vibe with me wherever I go, and always look for ways to make a connection with those around me. I like to challenge the status-quo, get curious, and allow the rebel inside of me to speak up. I work best in environments where that is encouraged, nurtured and explored, together. I am looking to connect with those working within or connected to organizations within the health, education & community-building spaces, city-building, and sustainability & clean energy with particular interest in Indigenous and EDIA priorities. I am intrigued by leaders whose work is centred on creating & holding space and amplifying diverse voices and identities. I am particularly interested in the role of coaching & support, as well as diversity & inclusion in communications and creative focussed spaces, and how we can break down and systemic and systematic barriers that exist at various levels within workspaces, government, and other institutions, in an effort to reimagine those spaces.
