About Amanda Meffert

I am Amanda Meffert, a Resident in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I obtained my Masters in Clinical Mental Health from Northwestern University. Nonwestern provided me with cutting-edge techniques and interventions to better serve my clients and community. Prior to starting my master’s program, I obtained my undergraduate degree from The University of Virginia’s extension campus with a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology and a minor in Biology. During that time, I studied aboriginal medical research in Australia as well as food studies research in rural Southwest Virginia. Additionally, I have a background in medicine as I obtained an Associate’s of Science and national certification in Medical Assisting. I am a culturally competent counselor-in-training and I provide services such as assessments, diagnoses, treatment, career services, and any additional counseling services. I am an integrative mental health counselor with a focus on Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Play Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy/Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I provide services to children, adolescents, and adults. Additionally, I deliver my proficiencies to non-profit organizations, outpatient, and inpatient settings. Some of my hobbies include opera, vocal performance, and crafting. I reside in Northern Virginia with my family and two rescue dogs. I enjoy serving members of the community and look forward to meeting you!
