About Amanda Mohlala

Amanda Mohlala is Biomedical Technologist and holds a MPH. She is currently pursuing a PhD focused on the effectiveness of digital platforms in improving quality assurance (QA) outcomes of HIV Point-of-Care tests. Amanda is a public health specialist with over 20 years experience in strategic leadership of programs. She has effectively lead multiple clinical trial research, Health Systems Strengthening (HSS) and Laboratory Systems Strengthening (LSS) projects with focus on implementing transformative programs in HIV, TB and Sexual Reproductive health in South Africa, Mozambique and Zambia. She has vast experience in Quality Improvement and Quality Management Systems and a strong background in managing multi-country programs and working in donor-funded environments, including CDC, USAID, and Global Fund programs. She is recognized for optimizing operational processes and enhancing (QA) of rapid HIV testing outcomes through digital innovation and data-driven approaches. This achievement has been featured in the 2024 WHO Consolidated Guidelines on Differentiated HIV testing services as a case study. She is the Ambassador of the African Society of Laboratory Medicine (ASLM) and a member of the TWG appointed by NDOH to review and align HIV Testing Services (HTS) policy. She is also a member of WHO steering committee responsible for development of QA/QI Toolkit for HIV POCT.
