About Amanda Nguy

Hello! My name is Amanda Nguy and I am a public health professional living in the San Francisco Bay Area. With three years of experience in the field, my strengths lie in health education and working in health promotion programs. Much of my experience has taken place in school-based settings, and I have worked with children of all ages. Currently, I work as a Health Specialist for the YMCA of the East Bay’s Head Start program, ensuring that children ages 0 to 5 are meeting age-appropriate health milestones. Previous to this role, I worked as a youth health educator, where I managed a health promotion program to prevent youth substance use and created health education curricula. In addition to the experiences I’ve had from working in the field, I have gained invaluable skills during my time as a graduate student at the University of San Francisco. For USF’s MPH program, I worked with the university’s Health Promotion Services to create and facilitate health promotion workshops on responsible drinking habits and bystander intervention. I also held brief motivational interviewing sessions for undergraduate students. My public health experiences have not only shaped my skills and work ethic, but my worldview and passion for working with underserved youth.
