Background
About Amanda P. Pearson
As the Deputy Editor of the peer-reviewed journal, International Security, I manage the editing and production of articles accepted for publication. I line edit all articles, working with authors to clarify their arguments, improve article structure, and make their prose as clear and concise as possible. I also oversee the journal’s relationships with the typesetter and the journal's publisher, MIT Press. From to 2010 I was the publications manager at Harvard University’s Weatherhead Center for International Affairs. While there, I edited dozens of 100-page annual reports, newsletters, and peer-reviewed working papers. I was the rapporteur for a three-day conference in France on "The Future of U.S. Foreign Policy," authoring a 20-page report on the conference proceedings. in honor of the Center's 50th anniversary, I edited and produced the book, In Theory and in Practice: Harvard’s Center for International Affairs, published by Harvard University Press. I have also been a freelance academic editor, working with scholars on books and journal articles on international relations and comparative politics. I have edited numerous academic books published by Cambridge University Press, Oxford University Press, Princeton University Press, and University of California Press, as well as journal articles in World Politics, African Affairs, Journal of Political Economy, and the American Journal of Political Science. After receiving my undergraduate degree and studying abroad in Kenya, early in my career I was a research assistant in the African Studies department at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C.
