About Amanda Pirkowski

As a weekday morning anchor at WNDU, the NBC station in South Bend, I enjoy sharing individual narratives to inspire and to improve the lives of others. My experience spans diverse coverage areas, from international stories like the papal election (reported from a South American perspective) to major sporting events, including the Super Bowl, as well as local impact stories such as how federal budget cuts have affected Chicago institutions. I'm proficient in all aspects of multimedia journalism, including writing, filming, editing in Adobe Premiere Pro and Edius, and delivering live reports.As a former Division 1 athlete and Team USA fencer, I value teamwork, trustworthiness, and commitment. I have traveled to 33 different countries while fencing on Team USA’s Women’s Épée Team. I also served as a in-game host/emcee for Notre Dame's basketball and volleyball games and as an ambassador and researcher for NBC Sports in Stamford, Conn. I always strive to bring the workplace the cultural awareness learned through travel and the discipline and dedication developed through sports.
