About Amanda Roberts

A 2022 graduate of Marist College, I received a B.A. in English with a concentration in writing and minors in professional writing and women's, gender, and sexuality studies. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with graduation honors in English. I am currently pursuing my master's degree in Library and Information Science at Simmons University with an anticipated graduation date of May 2024. At Simmons, I have carefully designed my coursework to provide me with a range of classes that will prepare me for public librarianship. With a focus on youth services, I have taken classes in collection development, program planning, and literacy services for underserved populations. Since 2016, I have worked as a Library Assistant at the Boonton Holmes Public Library in the Youth Services and Circulation Departments. In this role, I have supported multiple Summer Reading Programs and facilitated the creation and execution of many STEM programs for school-aged patrons. Additionally, I conducted circulation procedures using LEAP and Polaris Integrated Library Systems. While in graduate school, I am working remotely as a website and newsletter manager using WordPress and Constant Contact. This experience inspired my interest in working in youth services and has prepared me immensely for a position in public libraries.
