Background
About Amanda Romanello
I will never forget my third-grade teacher. I remember being excited to go to school every day, eager to learn more. She was caring, engaging, and most of all, inspiring. She is the reason I decided to become an elementary-school teacher. From the moment I stepped into the classroom, I knew I wanted to use my passion to make a lasting impact on my students; just as my third-grade teacher had done. I started working at Stamford Public Schools in 2016, and since then, I can't imagine working anywhere else. I began my career as a fifth-grade teacher, got moved down to fourth, and a few years later, I finally became a third-grade teacher. After becoming a third-grade teacher, I have taken on additional roles. For the past two years I have been the Math Liaison for my school. I was also an after-school tutor for the district's Acceleration and Recovery Academy, a program designed to support students post-pandemic. During the past few summers, I have taught summer school. As I am about to begin a new school year, I am eager to find new ways to be involved with my school. There are many words that I would use to describe myself as a teacher, but my top words are caring, dedicated, engaging, and enthusiastic. I care about my students' well-being, as well as their hopes and dreams. I encourage them to do their best every day and communicate my high expectations for them. I am dedicated to helping students learn, not only academics, but how to be good people. I strive to engage my students using a variety of approaches. I know that my students have different strengths and needs, a well as learning styles, so I differentiate my instruction to maximize student learning. Finally, my enthusiasm for teaching and learning is evident from the moment my students walk through the door. I want my students to become life-long learners. As a colleague, I am hard-working, flexible, collaborative, and organized. I appreciate hearing different perspectives and welcome constructive feedback. Every day, I work towards strengthening my skills as a professional.
