With over 20 years in the field of public health and a Master of Public Health from the University of Toronto, Amanda brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to her role as the Associate Director of the Institute for Population and Public Health. For much of her career, she led and supported multi-stakeholder/right-holder and community engagement in planning, program, and policy development. Food sovereignty and food security have been a central theme in her work, ranging from developing and managing grassroots responses, to planning for salmon restoration with First Nations communities, to advocating for federal policy change. Working in both the non-profit sector and as a consultant, Amanda has seen first-hand the challenges and opportunities of community-led research and the critical importance of enabling communities and knowledge users to co-define and co-lead research related to their health, wellbeing and future.
