About Amanda Strickson

I have 27 years of scientific and clinical research experience from 1994, firstly in academia (in the field of Molecular Haematology at Oxford University), where I gained my PhD and published in the field. I then moved to Pharma in 2002 as a Scientific Adviser in the Rheumatology/ Immunology therapeutic area at Abbott Laboratories where I ran the Named Patient Programme for HUMIRA (adalimumab), presented to HCPs, trained sales representatives, and reviewed documents according to the ABPI code of practice before moving to Consultancy (Senior Project Manager at Adelphi Values) and as a Freelance Medical Writer before setting up Tolley Health Economics with Keith Tolley in 2008, a company we have grown to become a small, but focussed Agency providing strategic consultancy to the pharma industry. As co-director, I lead the Medical Writing team in all systematic literature reviews and HTA submissions to NICE, SMC, and the AWMSG within several therapeutic areas including oncology (kidney cancer, cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, haematological solid tumours, NSCLC), Haematology (secondary iron overload), Immunology (rheumatoid arthritis), Neurology (LEMS), Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis, diabetes, asthma, women’s health, and vaccines. With my team, we are now looking to engage companies earlier in the evidence generation advice process by encouraging discussion before implementation of their Phase 3 trials, to steer their course through NICE and SMC.
