About Amanda Trakas

With a background in Landscape Architecture, I currently serve as the Statewide Water Information Manager at the University of Arizona Water Resources Research Center. In this role, I focus on gathering, interpreting, and visualizing water data to create accessible resources for stakeholders, collaborating with partners in agriculture, ranching, education, and public works to enhance understanding of water-related topics. My responsibilities also include project coordination of a multi-site green infrastructure development project using vacant lots aimed at mitigating flooding and creating public green spaces to promote community engagement and environmental education.My experience spans from working with academic researchers and community-based organizations to landscape architecture firms. I have been involved in public information campaigns and design projects that address social and environmental concerns, aiming to create ecologically sensitive and socially engaging landscapes. My work emphasizes sustainable urban and rural development and fostering community interactions while navigating complex projects with respect and sensitivity.
