About Amanda Turner

Passionate about optimising health, I am a CNHC-registered Nutritional Therapy Practitioner mBANT with a BSc (Hons) Degree in Nutritional Therapy and an MSc in Nutritional Medicine, and hold special interests in gastrointestinal dysfunction, chronic fatigue, cardiometabolic disorders, integrated healthcare, environmental & functional medicine, effects of chronic stress and the gut-brain-axis. Keen to keep up with research into how human nutrition optimises health and prevents disease, I have completed the MSc degree in Nutritional Medicine at the University of Surrey and took part in on-going training at The Institute for Functional Medicine. After many years completing intensive training courses there, case studies and a 4.5 hour exam in June 2022, I am now also a Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner (IFMCP) at The Institute of Functional Medicine. Health and wellness have always been part of my life but nutrition has turned into a passion that has led me to retrain and study academically for over 10 years. Almost uniquely among Nutrition Therapy Practitioners, I have a significant knowledge of both conventional and complementary healthcare. Having worked alongside the NHS for over 24 years for independent pharmaceutical companies specialising in gastroenterology, gut health and dermatology and with a background of many years spent in teaching and education in healthcare, I use this experience to assess the needs of individuals/corporate clients and facilitate learning at different levels. I now run my Nutritional and Lifestyle Medicine practice in Hampshire and I have a special interest in supporting sufferers of chronic conditions through optimising their nutrition, wellbeing and quality of life. Nutritional Therapy and Functional Medicine can be powerful adjuncts in the management of difficult-to-manage conditions. I therefore work in collaboration with medical doctors and other mainstream/complementary healthcare professionals. As an integrated form of care, Nutritional Therapy and Functional Medicine are complementary to conventional mainstream medicine.
