About Amanda Wall

I’m the director of operations for VITAC’s Maryland team, which specializes in high-quality transcripts and captions for news, science, cybersecurity and law organizations. I also oversee quality for all post-production products! I’m interested in the way human knowledge can combine with automated processes such as speech recognition and AI to make transcription easier, better, faster and more accessible for clients and audiences alike. My experience – beginning years ago as a part-time transcriber, becoming the bridge between clients and production staff, working closely with tech to create cloud-based transcription software, and now leading the ops team – has given me invaluable understanding of problem-solving on all sides of production. I love learning about the remarkable possibilities of ASRs, increasing transcript visibility and caption quality for users and improved SEO, and better synthesis of workflows across and within teams. My home is Baltimore City, where I volunteer for a nonprofit video rental store - yes, you read that right!
