About Amanda Walter

When given the opportunity to pursue a career in accounting, I was delightfully surprised to find it like an old friend. After completing my BA, I began the path that led me to accounting. Starting as a Receptionist at Preston Auto Group, I worked my way up to Accounting Clerk. I quickly learned that many of my existing skills naturally transitioned to the world of accounting: research, proofreading, attention to detail, and content analysis are all pillars of literary and film analysis. I enjoy the challenge of finding errors and correcting them. I found there was little difference if I was crafting a well written analysis, or balancing a journal entry. The principles are the same. I've always been a ravenous consumer; reading when I wasn't supposed to be in school and staying up to finish just one more episode. Given this new opportunity I read up in addition to on the job training. I read an intro to accounting textbook to begin and followed that up with the help guides and forums for CDK, Microsoft Office, and Google Drive. I seek opportunities to learn and grow everyday. This desire for new challenges brought me to my current role as the Junior Staff Accountant at Cortina Leathers. Here I'm expanding my accounting skills. I'm proud of my accomplishments. My degree in English with Minor in Film Studies from Westminster College; it shaped the professional I am today. My experience in accounting; it's not where I thought I would be but I wouldn't change a thing. I'm results driven. There's nothing more satisfying than a stack of posted car deals, a completed report, or a stack of checks ready to mail. Outside of the office I pride myself on my growing home library and my Sudoku skills.
