About Amanda Wright

Skilled and compassionate educator with 16 years of experience teaching English at the high school level. Committed to providing high-quality, meaningful instruction in a safe and supportive environment. Throughout my teaching career, I have volunteered for multiple leadership roles in the area of writing and literacy support. I'm proud of my work leading the Writing TA program, recruiting and training students to provide on-demand literacy support to their peers. In that program, our top writers provide support to students at all levels, from college applications to basic skills remediation. I feel passionately that meaningful one-on-one feedback is the most effective vehicle to student learning, so managing this program has been a meaningful way to invest in potential leaders, support student learning across the building, and expand my reach as an educator. Whether it's serving on the Faculty Advisory Council to respond to teacher suggestions and complaints or meeting with parents to navigate accommodations, I believe that engaging in active listening and practicing direct, respectful communication is key to building understanding, navigating conflict, and improving systems for everyone. To be an educator is to identify needs, design curriculum and instruction to meet those needs, assess whether that plan worked, and then make the necessary changes until the desired outcome is met. I am passionate about this work and look forward to impacting change that will positively impact people and systems.
