About Amaya Starks

Amaya Starks is an aspiring actress/singer/songwriter from Kansas City, Kansas. She attends the illustrious Spelman College, where she is a rising junior pursuing a degree in Theatre Performance Art with a minor in Music. Amaya has starred as the lead in various musicals and plays, including Seussical Jr, Beauty and the Beast Jr, Drowsy Chaperone, Vagina Monologues, Phantom Tollbooth, and The Wiz. She has acted in the pilot episode of a web series entitled “Losin It,” which won awards from the Phoenix Shorts Festival and the San Francisco Arthouse Short Festival. Amaya worked on her second production of The Wiz as Dorothy and made her directing debut in Seussical Kids at Gloria Willis Middle School. Amaya Starks has a passion for theatre arts and has shown that passion through working with the Kansas Academy of Theatrical Arts to help bring theatre to Kansas City. She is elated to say that she has acted in a total of 7 productions for the company and has worked backstage and crew for two. Amaya wants to continue to spread positivity through her work and her life with her motto, “The Sky was never the limit; we just thought it was.”
