I believe the most fulfilling things in life are based in the quality of the relationships we keep and the experiences we seek. Through healthy relationships and sharing our experiences, we are able to connect with others on a level in which no other creature on earth is able. The most loyal consumers, the most loved and trusted leaders, the best employees all have one thing in common: their ability to genuinely relate and empathize with others. What's a summary without a little over-sharing? When I was a little kid, I had a strong emotional connection to my stuffed animals. I was fully aware they were only plush toys, and yet I treated them as though they had feelings, desires, and preferences. I imagined their hobbies, favorite foods, and anticipated things they wouldn't like. Even as a child, I treated inanimate objects better than many adults treat other adults. This drive to care for others began at such an early age, I simply cannot remember it any other way. I hold that drive at my core and it fuels me in everything I do. From my very first full-time job at 18 working as a secretary to an office full of accountants to becoming a banker, then a mother and small business owner, I am continuing to seek new experiences that will grow both myself and those around me.
