About Amber L.

Amber Lieto is a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist and PhD student at the University of Pittsburgh. She holds a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Seton Hall University. Amber discovered her passion for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) early in her career. She is committed to enhancing AAC services, advocating for better policies, and identifying research gaps in this field. During her clinical fellowship, Amber provides specialized AAC services in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Her current research focuses on evaluating the feasibility and functionality of brain-computer interfaces as an access method for AAC. Amber is also the current President of the School of Health and Rehabilitation Science (SHRS) Dean's Student Advisory Board (SAB) and the SHRS PhD Student Organization. Additionally, she is highly involved in facilitating camps throughout the summer, including the youth leadership program, RYLA, and AAC camps directed by the AAC Institute’s ICANTALK Clinic and RWJ Children's Specialized Hospital. Amber is actively involved in the New Jersey Speech-Language-Hearing Association (NJSHA), participating in the AAC, Website, IPAC, and Membership Committees. She spearheads community outreach projects aimed at making AAC resources and education more accessible to the public.
