About Amber Ouellette

For over the twenty years as an educator and assistant principal, I have pursued many leadership roles. My involvement with School Improvement teams at each of my schools has given me an opportunity to plan for improvement in student achievement school-wide. Having the opportunity to lead the School Improvement Team for several years has given me experience in leading staff to disaggregate school data, implement research-based initiatives based on the data and plan for improved student achievement. In my role as an assistant principal I regularly lead teachers in monitoring student data, collaborate with teachers in aligning standards to outcomes, help to make data driven decisions when planning lessons, support teachers in the implementation of behavioral interventions based on student need, monitor school-wide data, ensure the grounds and buildings are safe and clean and ready for learning. I have been fortunate to act as a leader in many capacities during my career in education. A key role that I have taken on in recent years is recruiting new teachers. I have been involved in several recruitment fairs to identify and contract quality teachers so that, as a district we could improve educational outcomes for students. I also serve as a mentor to new assistant principals. This has allowed me to reflect on my own practice while guiding them in the duties and responsibilities required of an assistant principal. I believe that all of the skills that I have learned working with the students, staff and community will help me to be an asset. Under my leadership my school is a PBIS gold model school. We work as a team to ensure that students are building valuable character education skills and learn to make the better decisions daily. My relationships and rapport with staff, students and community, my experience with building character education/social emotional supports within the classroom and school, and my efforts in fostering an environment of high academic standards is what makes me a strong administrator.
