About Amber Reid

I am an experienced mental health professional, scholar, and researcher committed to elevating the communities I serve. I have a diversified background of experience in various areas including program management and coordination, counseling and advisement in academic institutions and clinical settings, teaching at the University level, qualitative and community participatory research, and preservation of cultural heritage in museum and archive settings. My work and passions center on the study and application of cultural heritage and folkloric practices for the promotion of individual and collective wellness. Some previous and current projects include the collection of oral histories in marginalized communities, a study of the impacts of social dancing, and creating space to explore the relationship between dance and spirituality.
