About Amber Rucker

Amber Rucker is a Senior Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Manager across 3 locations within the western region of North Carolina. With over 5 years of experience in the non-profit industry, Amber has seen the challenges faced by C-Suite executives to implement strategy around inclusion and diversity. As someone who was previously impacted by the lack of strategy, Amber's present work is centered around building effective strategy while providing consultation and support to C-Suite executives. Through consultation and support, she helps executives and leaders create dialogue amongst one another to make sustainable change that will remove barriers to equity, inclusion and belonging. To front line staff, Amber serves as a bridge between the impact of these decisions and an advocate to their sense of belonging. Amber is certified as an Equitable Leader and a Brave Conversations Facilitator. She has launched the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Antiracist (IDEA) committee to unify the advocates for change to guide and operationalize organizational strategy. She also leads a employee resource group for staff to connect across sites, job titles and identities to further advocate for their sense of belonging and inclusion. She sponsors initiatives regularly that are representative of each employee. She facilitates and develops learning opportunities to enhance awareness and circulate dialogue. She recognizes that the absence of communication will further minimize the need for action. Amber received her masters degree from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and received a bachelors degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from Winston Salem State University prior.
